For the first time in more than a week, there was a Carey Price sighting but the injured goaltender wasnt spotted anywhere near the team practice facility in Brossard.Price, who is on the injured reserve list with a lower-body injury, flew to New York Monday morning along with his father Jerry who is in town to participate in the annual family trip that will see the dads accompany their sons to Pittsburgh for Wednesday game against the Penguins .The Canadiens had no comment on Price trip other than to say that he was out of the country seeking a medical evaluation and that he was expected to return later in the day. There was no indication whether Price was acting on the advice of the Canadiens medical staff or seeking a second opinion Michel Therrien is expected to provide an update on Price health prior to the team departure Tuesday, but it unlikely that Price will play in Pittsburgh.Therrien said last week that Price wont play unless he 100-per-cent healthy and the Canadiens are no hurry to rush him back because Mike Condon has been exceptional in the backup role. The 25-year-old rookie is 3-0-1 since Price went on the injured reserve list and is 6-0-1 on the season with an NHL-best 1.57 goals-against average. Condon was 2-0-1 last week with a 1.66 GAA and a .934 save percentage. That earned him the NHL third star of the week behind two snipers, Chicago Patrick Kane and Tyler Seguin of Dallas. It a nice personal honour, but it doesnt mean much in the grand scheme of things, said Condon.Canadiens rookie Mike Condon, stopping an Islanders shot in Montreal on Nov. 5, 2015.Condon has made five consecutive starts, which would have seemed unlikely when he came out of training camp in the No. 2 spot. You always have to be ready when the opportunity comes your way, said Condon. Crazy things happen in hockey. I prepare myself for the next opportunity. That all you can do.In this case, the next opportunity means facing a Pittsburgh lineup with offensive stars Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Phil Kessel and Kris Letang.Im excited, said Condon. You want to play against the best players. Playing against world-class players like that is a good measuring stick. As for the prospects of his temporary No. 1 stint lasting longer than expected, Condon said It a possibility, but you dont want to get ahead of yourself. I try not to think about all the variables and it good to get away from the rink.Condon, who earned a political science degree from Princeton, said being a student-athlete taught him to balance two things at once but it easier now to concentrate on hockey.Condon, who grew up in the Boston suburb of Needham, said he heard from a lot of people back home after beating the Bruins Saturday night. His father watched that game on TV, but Condon père flew into Montreal Monday morning and will watch his son play in the NHL live for the first time in Pittsburgh.Nathan Beaulieu received some good news when the NHL said it didnt plan any supplemental discipline for the defenceman cross-check on Zac Rinaldo Saturday night said he was simply trying to defend himself and he said he appreciated Therrien defence of his actions after the game.We have a pretty tight group and we stand up for each other, said Beaulieu.
